Rules

Competition rules are the ones of the EEDA, in their current version at competition time, that can be consulted here. The organisers draw competitors’ attention to article 6.3.a : « Couples shall dance in the International style only. Other dance styles such as free-style dancing, American style dancing and Show dancing are not permitted ».

As an exception to article 6.1.a, for the starters category, the two Latin dances are cha-cha-cha and rumba and the two standard dances are slow waltz and quickstep.

Ballroom, Latin and 10-Dance competitions

Dancers may participate to several competition categories with different partners. However, for a given category, all dances should be danced with the same partner.

Ranking for the 10-dance combined competition will be established for couples consisting of the same partners and who have taken part to both latin and ballroom competitions.

Dancers should wear clothes conforming to standards of decency.

Starters competition

This category is for couples who are new to dancing and who have no competition experience in either same-sex or mixed gender dancing competitions.

The dances are Cha-cha-cha and Rumba for Latins and Slow waltz and Quickstep for Ballroom.

Each couple can compete in Latins and/or Ballroom. In the register form, please choose the Equality category.

The fun competition

The fun competition is primarily made for the audience. Anyone can register on the spot, till the last minute, to feel the thrill of competition in either latin dance and/or ballroom dance.

The competition dance will be Tango and Cha-cha-cha.

The objective is not to confront the most experienced dancers (A and B classes dancers are kindly requested to give up their place), but to have fun, to enjoy, to feel the stress that precedes the entry on the dance floor, and so many other things.
The couples will be marked by judges present at the competition, according to the same criteria.
